RATING
Cute, and the hosts are awesome. This was more entertaining and less educational than I was looking for, so I didn't stick with it.
Nice easy listen for when I'm doing house cleaning etc. Its fairly surface level as another mentions but I use it more as a starting grounds to find new cult topics. Wish they where longer/ more in-depth new episode feel more detached from the topics.
This podcast started off entertaining but quickly became nothing but a platform to push leftist ideology and talking points and bash and slander anyone that's not a democrat.
Horrible, silly, childish, simplistic hosts. I learned nothing. They are not funny and not interesting. Unlistenable.
I liked this pod when it first came out but they've apparently now decided 'the youth' is their target audience and are now exclusively catering to them. That's fine of course but I can no longer bear listening. Probably not for anyone over the age of 25.
Could be good if less twee? Heard Montell interviewed on another podcast; is completely capable of discourse that digs deeper than an inch, so tried over here again. And - again - random flattening comments. Not for me.
Unbalanced, verrry limited research, neither educational or funny
On the episode "is astrology a cult" they just have an astrologer plug it as if it were scientific and takes hard work. They dismiss psychology as a soft science and then compare it to astrology. Repeatedly. So high b.s. from both the hosts and the guests.
Starts strong but as time goes on the research gets lazy and they completely leave behind anything approaching critical thought about the topic. In the first few episodes they have a whole typology and rate the topic of the week across multiple different metrics but by the second season they just interview a random guest (usually someone who is involved with or a fan of the potential cult-like topic) and then just agree with whatever they say and abandon the system and just start mindlessly cranking out episodes.
It's not like it's a bad podcast, it's just not for me. The hosts were really annoying; they tried so hard to be funny and just weren't, plus they were really bad interviewers. Came across as very amateur. I also don't think they delved deep enough into the topics - very surface level which is a shame because the concept is so interesting.
