RATING
Well, I´m not into gaming. Like at all. Nevertheless I find myself well entertained by this show, that has a rich world building, an engaging story and practical bite-sized episodes. But I must admit, that THAT VOICE is one of the biggest reasons I keep on listening.
A Ninth World JournalI appreciate that, Gitte! I promise not to change my voice (lol) and to continue to do my best to deliver these bite-sized episodes in a way that keeps you engaged.
Quantum Leap meets Numenara, with a splash of Doctor Who. This is a great audio drama that makes excellent use is the setting from Numenara. Even if you haven't played the RPG (I haven't!), you will absolutely enjoy this.
A Ninth World JournalThanks Elizabeth! It does have that far futuristic Quantum Leap reminiscence, doesn't it? I really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you're enjoying the journey!
This podcast is lovely and clever. It's well written and well acted. The story is fascinating and engaging.
A Ninth World JournalWow, those are kind words, Alix! I'm glad you find it entertaining, and it was indeed a pleasure visiting with you!
This show is a magical meld between an AP system and a written AD with top-notch voice acting. What David has created here is unique and an absolute delight to listen to.
A Ninth World JournalThank you! ADs (as you well know) offer such a fertile bed for great storytelling and this world is just too imaginative to pass up. Hats off to Monte Cook Games, and thanks for kind words!
Dude, holy shit. Why haven't I listened to this podcast before? IT'S SO GOOD!
A Ninth World JournalI'm not sure why, but I'm so glad you're listening now! Thank you!
Wasn't sure this podcasts was up my alley when I first started it. But that quickly changed. It is now definitely one of my favorite podcasts and I look forward to each episode as it comes out. It is unique and that is something that is definitely needed in the podcasting world.
A Ninth World JournalI appreciate you staying with it, and I'm glad it paid off. Thank you Corey!
Like a travelogue from a dissolute chef, no longer interested in the specifics of his profession but instead opening his eyes to the vast complexity and amazing diversions on offer in the world. I had never heard of Numenera, but this podcast reeled me in.
A Ninth World JournalThank you Eddie Louise! I like how you put Januae's experience... those words really dial in on how he is navigating this strange situation.
David does an amazing job building the world and letting people into it. The voice work is amazing and everything about it will draw you in!
A Ninth World JournalThank you so much, Jess! You are too kind and very much appreciated!
Don't miss these explorations, don't you dare. Looking forward to more!
A Ninth World JournalThanks, Ian! I'm so glad you're enjoying the explorations!
This is one of our favorite Audio Drama's! Knowing NOTHING about the Numenera table top game has made this journey into this bizarre futuristic world a thrilling experience which we look forward too every time! David's narrative voice is amazing!
A Ninth World JournalThanks for the kind words about the narration! I'm always glad to hear that the show translates without prior knowledge of the game or the setting. I strive to make it that way.
You have to listen to this show. The voice acting is amazing, and David's voice is magical. The first season is pretty good, but the second is fantastic. You're missing out if you're not listening to the (mis)adventures of Januae.
A Ninth World JournalWow, that was really nice of you to say, Susannah! I'm glad each season gets better... let's hope I can keep up the pace and meet expectations.
Januae you wonderful Jaunting man, you are a source of much entertainment. This show is a wonderful journey across the world of Numenera. Voiced by the wonderful David S. Dear, this show brings back such great memories of being a child and getting that since of wonder as I was reading. The story is brought to life so well. The first season was amazing and I am looking forward to season 2.
A Ninth World JournalI love that you get a sense of wonder from the show! It will continue to twist in new directions, so I hope to continue to surprise you. Thank you for supporting the show in the many ways you do!
This is one of my favorite podcasts because of the amount of love and talent that is brought to bear on every episode. I adore this, without ever having played this game. The creator of this podcast is spinning a tale worthy of a listen. Do yourself a favor, get on this train... or jaunt.
A Ninth World JournalThanks, Steven! You've been such a kind supporter of the show and you are greatly appreciated! May I strive to continue to entertain.
This is the perfect commute audio drama. Whether your drive 15 minutes or 150, the story is captivating for you to enjoy every second. Each episode is just long enough to keep you wanting more, but long enough to make you sit and reflect on what just happened. This is a binge waiting to happen!
A Ninth World JournalI'm glad the story can distract from a long or short commute. Thanks for listening, and Season 3 is just around the corner!
A delicious journey into a unique universe! Worth curling up with a warm beverage for!
A Ninth World JournalThanks Paul! The warm beverage is a good call, especially when ending up in the Cold Desert!
This is a premier audio fiction podcast. The concept is well done, the execution is top-notch, and it gets better and better, season by season. It's great to hear a show capitalize on its successes and fix its issues as it continues along.I have no negatives listening to this show, it truly is a fantastic listening experience and one you must add to your queue!
A Ninth World JournalThank you so much Ned! I truly appreciate the feedback and the kind words! More to come...
Dont worry about the game its adapted from, you dont have to know it to enjoy the show (I am proof of that ?)This is a awesome audio drama with a very interesting character and a crazy world which somehow makes a lot of sense!
A Ninth World JournalI appreciate you saying so! I really strive to have it easy to follow for those who are unfamiliar with the game. Thank you for validating that and for the kind words!
A rich, full and complex world, brought to life by David and the cast’s performances, scoring and sound effects. This feels lovingly and painstakingly produced, and a great listen for fans of big sprawling sci-fi and fantasy.
I've loved A Ninth World Journal since the first listen. Let it draw you in, and don't worry if you don't know the game -- you don't need to. This is storytelling at its finest, with a cast and story that are just amazing.
This show makes me want to play Numenera, but also leaves me satisfied as though I've just played an RPG. It is an impressive narrative replete with interesting characters and wonderful narration. My assumptions of it, based on the summary, being like 'Quantum Leap but set in Numenera', wound up feeling almost reductive, because David and the show do compelling and interesting things that have surprised and delighted me beyond what I had expected.
A Ninth World JournalThanks Grahame! I don't mind the Quantum Leap comparison though I appreciate that you find it compelling and interesting! I'll do my best to keep it enjoyable, and thank you so much for listening!
